Dover Counselling Centre has been renowned for its excellent service to the East Kent community for forty years and has decided to share its expertise with fellow charities elsewhere through a new venture built on creativity, community and sustainable growth entitled Hub & Spoke – and it’s free!

The new venture is exceptionally pleased to have secured the services of Laura Hardy, a charity leader and fundraiser with more than a decade of experience helping communities thrive through creativity, connection, and sustainable growth. Since 2013, she has led a grassroots charity that uses art to improve wellbeing, build confidence, and empower vulnerable and disadvantaged people to become active members of their community.

Laura is creative project leader dedicated to helping communities thrive. For several years she has led a highly successful project that has transformed a small grassroots idea into an award‑winning charity recognised for its impact on wellbeing and community cohesion.

She specialises in strategic growth, fundraising, and project delivery, from managing full organisational relocations to designing sustainable business models. Furthermore, Laura also mentors’ charities and CICs across Kent through Funding for All, offering practical support in bid writing, budgeting, and community fundraising.

Her work, under the banner of Hub & Spoke, a trading name of the Dover Counselling Centre, a well-know and highly respected charity that has helped countless thousands, is driven by a belief in creativity as a force for change and a commitment to helping organisations build strong, sustainable futures.

At its heart, Hub & Spoke is a centralised support ecosystem designed specifically for the charitable sector. It brings together expertise, guidance, and practical solutions in a way that allows charities to focus on what they do best, changing lives. The “hub” provides clarity, structure, and strategic direction; the “spokes” extend that support outward, empowering organisations of every size to operate with confidence, efficiency, and resilience.

Whether a charity needs help with governance, communications, crisis planning, volunteer management, or long‑term sustainability, Hub & Spoke offers a single, reliable point of connection. It is built on the belief that no charity should feel isolated, overwhelmed, or under‑supported. It recognises that the challenges facing the sector are growing, but so too is the potential for innovation, collaboration, and shared strength.

What makes Hub & Spoke unique is not just its model, but its origin. It is the product of four decades of learning - sometimes the hard way - about what happens when systems fail and what becomes possible when they work. It is the brainchild of someone who has seen both sides: the consequences of organisational breakdown and the extraordinary impact of organisations that are empowered to thrive.

Hub & Spoke stands as a promise to the sector: that support can be smarter, structures can be stronger, and charities everywhere can have the tools they need to flourish. It is a venture born from tragedy, shaped by experience, and driven by hope.
