Tunbridge Wells-based Autumna has announced a collaborative step forward in transparency within the later-life care sector for Dunham Care, with the care home operator adopting OpenScore by Autumna across its homes, beginning with Herne Bay Manor in Kent.
Herne Bay Manor, located in Canterbury Road in Herne Bay, is now listed on Autumna, one of the UK’s largest and most comprehensive independent directories of later-life care providers, and has been included in OpenScore by Autumna, the UK’s first real-time, digital care quality score.
OpenScore aggregates more than 60 live data points to generate a clear score out of 10, incorporating regulatory ratings, live reviews, food hygiene scores and other meaningful quality indicators. This creates a dynamic, up-to-date snapshot of daily life and care quality, rather than a single, historic inspection point.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving how care quality is evidenced and understood supporting families to make better-informed decisions with confidence, while enabling care providers to proactively demonstrate quality through live, relevant data.
Mike Wilson, Chief Operating Officer at Dunham Care, said:
OpenScore aligns strongly with our approach to openness and accountability. This allows families to see a more accurate, real-time reflection of life within our homes, while giving providers a fairer way to evidence quality beyond traditional inspection frameworks.
Emma James, Business Operations Director at Dunham Care, added:
This partnership represents a progressive shift for the sector. By adopting OpenScore, we are supporting informed choice for families and reinforcing our commitment to transparency, continuous improvement and high-quality care.
Developed by Autumna, OpenScore was created to address long-standing challenges in how care quality is communicated, bridging the gap between regulatory oversight and lived experience.
Debbie Harris, Founder of Autumna and OpenScore, commented:
We are delighted to be working with Dunham Care as they take this important step towards greater transparency in later‑life care. OpenScore was created to give families a clearer, real‑time understanding of quality, and to support providers who are committed to continuous improvement. Dunham Care’s adoption of OpenScore reflects a genuine dedication to openness, accountability and resident wellbeing. We’re proud to partner with an organisation that shares our vision for a more informed, data‑driven future in the care sector.
The launch of OpenScore by Autumna has already attracted significant attention across the care sector, where it has been described as a game-changing shift in how care quality is measured and shared.
