Countrystyle’s Team Comes To Angela's Aid

A team from Kent-based waste management company Countrystyle Recycling has been congratulated for coming to the rescue of an elderly woman who had a bad fall in her garden in Bexley.
Waste operatives Tom Featherstone from Dartford, Darren Stow from Erith and Daniel Rydqvist from Thamesmead, who is also a qualified first aider, were on their round in Halcot Avenue when they came across Angela Montelbano, aged 75, who was semi-conscious and bleeding heavily.
Angela’s neighbour Christine Garrett, who was also on the scene, has thanked the Countrystyle team who took control of the situation.
I’d like to commend our waste operatives who recently came to the aid of a resident who had fallen. Their quick thinking and compassion embody the values we hold dear in Bexley.
She said: “Daniel was brilliant. He told me what to do to help, made sure we didn’t move her and kept her conscious. Another member of the team called an ambulance and was really helpful to the paramedics, answering all their questions.
“Angela lives alone and has rheumatoid arthritis so I contacted her family but without the team from Countrystyle, I could not have managed as I’m elderly myself. They are all heroes in my book and if I win the lottery, they're on my list! Countrystyle is lucky to have them.”
The employees have all been presented with a letter of commendation and vouchers from Countrystyle and also received a personal letter from Cllr Baroness O’Neil, Leader of the London Borough of Bexley.
She said: “I’d like to commend our waste operatives who recently came to the aid of a resident who had fallen. Their quick thinking and compassion embody the values we hold dear in Bexley. Keeping our borough safe remains a top priority.”

Jason Jones, Contract Manager at Countrystyle Recycling, added: “We are extremely proud of our employees who took time out of their days to care for Angela. We’re so pleased to hear she’s now recovering at home but it could have been a very different story if they hadn’t stopped. We are a family business and this act of kindness is a great example of what we’re all about.”
Every month Bexley’s waste and recycling service, operated by Countrystyle Recycling, empties around 1.1 million domestic bins.
