Hendy Group was the driving force behind this month’s Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon, thanks to its headline sponsorship and the provision of support vehicles, which helped the event run smoothly. The business has long supported the event, one of the UK’s most popular and well-established road races, as part of its wider commitment to local community events.
The car dealer group, which has showrooms across the south of England and 8 in Tunbridge Wells, played a key role in keeping the half marathon’s entry costs accessible, while also ensuring participants benefited from finishers’ medals and comprehensive support throughout the route.
As part of the ongoing partnership, Hendy Group provided the official lead car and three vans to assist with race-day logistics. In addition, Hendy colleagues took part in the race, with funds raised through their participation being donated to the Hendy Foundation, which supports local charities.
Increasing female participation was a key focus of this year’s half marathon, with the Hendy Group supporting the event’s #WorksForWomen mission throughout.
The 2026 Hendy Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon took place on Sunday 22 February, with Race HQ based at the Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre. Organised by the Tunbridge Wells Harriers, the annual race has been hosted by the club for more than 40 years and continues to attract around 1,500 runners each year.
Starting at 9.00am, runners had up to three hours to complete the one-lap course, which went through Southborough, Bidborough, Penshurst, Fordcombe, Langton Green and Tunbridge Wells, offering a scenic yet challenging 13-mile route through the Kent countryside.
Michael Youlton, Race Director, Tunbridge Wells Harriers said:
Once again, we are grateful to the Hendy Motor Group for sponsoring our race this year, helping us to ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible. With their help we are able to put on this large community event which will benefit this year's chosen charity Imago Dei and a large number of other local charities and organisations that support our endeavours.
Paul Hendy, CEO of Hendy Group, said:
Our ongoing support for the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon is part of an ongoing commitment to the local community, as well as colleagues and customers in the area. The race is an important fixture in the local calendar, and we are thrilled to be part of this community-driven, mass-participation event.
Hendy Group represents more than 25 automotive brands across over 60 locations along the south of England, including 9 in Kent, and has been delivering a premium automotive experience for more than 165 years.
