Kent Vineyards Pioneer Steppr’s New Multi-Brand Voucher Model
Collaboration between Kent vineyards and voucher platform Steppr offers visitors a flexible way to discover local wine.

A group of leading Kent vineyards have become the first in the UK to launch a new multi-brand voucher through Steppr, the loyalty and gift platform founded to support SMEs. The partnership allows visitors to buy a single voucher redeemable at any of the participating vineyards, encouraging people to explore more of the county’s wine producers while supporting local businesses.
Wine Garden of England, which represents a number of Kent-based vineyards including Chapel Down, Biddenden and Gusbourne, worked with Steppr to design and launch the joint voucher. Each vineyard retains control over its redemptions, while visitors benefit from choice and convenience. And with almost 80% of vouchers bought as gifts, a little choice always helps. The initiative has already increased revenue and footfall for the vineyards.

The project stemmed from the challenges of selling vouchers for the group, as each producer typically operates different booking and administrative systems – making shared vouchers difficult to track. However, it made sense for the different vineyards to offer vouchers together in order to benefit from their combined brand names and reach. Steppr built the infrastructure to solve this, creating a single centralised platform where consumers can buy a voucher that is valid across the vineyard group.
Steppr’s vouchers are designed to deliver immediate revenue for businesses. Unlike competitors, Steppr does not charge any commission for its core voucher offering, or hold onto customer payments until redemption, which would also represent an effective fee. Instead, voucher payments are transferred instantly to businesses, providing a new cash flow stream. Customers benefit from discounts set by businesses that “step up” with each repeated purchase. Steppr makes its money from optional customer add-ons.

“We created Steppr to help SMEs compete more effectively while also gaining an important cash flow stream. We do this by giving them a suite of easy-to-use voucher and loyalty tools,” said Steppr co-founder Stephen Jeffrey. “The success of the new multi-brand vouchers, in collaboration with Wine Garden of England, is an example of how we’re innovating to help our partners win. Kent’s vineyards are helping us lead the way, and we’re proud this innovation started here.”
Before this successful pilot, Steppr’s vouchers were single-company-only. Now, Steppr can offer other groups of businesses the opportunity to benefit from the scale advantages of larger players too.
Looking ahead, the team is in talks with retail-focused Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) across the UK about introducing multi-brand vouchers to incentivise local shopping. The company plans to quadruple the number of live campaigns, with multi-vouchers being a significant part of that offering. Currently, Steppr works with over 200 businesses and has 50 live campaigns nationwide.
