Maxim’s MD Becomes Chair of leading Kent Business Organisation

An organisation that champions Kent’s business community and economy has a new Chair, as the Managing Director of one of the South East’s leading PR, marketing and public affairs agencies steps into the role.

Andrew Metcalf of Maxim has become Chair of Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, after Chris Hare, Vice-Principal of MidKent College, handed over the chain of office during the chamber’s annual general meeting.

Andrew, who has previously served as Vice-Chair of the chamber which is the only such organisation in Kent to be affiliated to the British Chambers of Commerce, will now chair the Board of Directors for the next two years.

Tudor Price, Chief Executive of the Chamber, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with Chris as Chair and Andrew as Vice-Chair, and I’m now looking forward to Andrew stepping up. His many connections across the region and his career experience of promoting businesses mean he’s ideally placed to help support and grow the reach of Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.

Andrew co-founded Maxim more than 30 years ago and has been on the board of the Chamber since 2014.  He takes a keen interest in the county’s political and business environment and enjoys connecting like-minded people through his work. He also represents the county’s business community on the Kent & Medway Economic Partnership.

He said: “It’s an honour to take over as Chair. Chris has played a pivotal role in promoting the skills agenda, supporting the growth of businesses and strengthening the Kent economy, and I look forward to building on his success while bringing my own experience to the role.

“These are challenging times for businesses and it is more important than ever that we promote cooperation and collaboration between Kent companies. We also need to ensure the business community understands the implications of the reorganisation of local government across Kent and Medway.”

Andrew’s previous role as Vice-Chair will be filled by Annette (Nettie) Buss, Business Development Director at Ashford-based Kennedy Accounting.

Kent Invicta works with its members through events, local and national business representation, business support, and international trade services. It is the county’s only chamber affiliated with the British Chambers of Commerce.
