Local builders’ merchant backs grassroots football through new multi-season community partnership
August 2026 – MKM Building Supplies (MKM), the UK’s proper independent builders’ merchant, has announced a new partnership between the MKM Sidcup branch and AFC Greenwich Borough, reinforcing the branch’s commitment to supporting the local community it serves.
The multi-season partnership, which also includes GB10 Sports, will run until the end of the 2027/28 football season and will see MKM become an Official Sponsor, helping to support grassroots football, youth development and community engagement across the area.
As part of the agreement, MKM branding will feature on both the men’s and youth team kits, with the business also supporting a range of club activity throughout the season across digital channels, matchday communications and community events.
More importantly, the partnership has been created to deliver lasting benefits beyond the pitch.
Working together, MKM, AFC Greenwich Borough and GB10 Sports plan to deliver at least two major community events each season, with activities expected to include school engagement programmes, grassroots football initiatives, coaching days and opportunities that bring together local businesses, residents and supporters.
The partnership has grown from an established relationship between MKM Sidcup and GB10 Sports Chairman Paul Whitehead, who has worked within the building industry for more than 30 years and has been a long-standing customer of the branch since it opened.
Simon Gregory, Branch Director at MKM Sidcup, said:
“Supporting our local community has always been incredibly important to us, so partnering with AFC Greenwich Borough and GB10 Sports felt like a natural fit.
“I live locally myself, so I know how highly regarded the club is within the community. Having recently opened MKM Sidcup, we’re keen to play an active role in supporting the same people and organisations that support us.”
He added:
“This partnership is about far more than having our logo on a football shirt. It’s about helping create opportunities for young people, supporting grassroots sport and getting involved in initiatives that make a genuine difference locally.
