A Kent-based security business has celebrated a major milestone in its growth with the opening of its new 5,000 sq ft headquarters in Medway, alongside achieving a prestigious industry accreditation and welcoming public safety campaigner Figen Murray OBE as a special guest.
On Monday 5 October, MS Webb brought together employees, clients and senior industry figures for the official opening, which recognised the company’s commitment to professional standards, public safety and continued investment in people and operations.
The event featured the presentation of MS Webb’s newly achieved NSI NACOSS Gold and its new British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Corporate Membership certificate.
Guests also heard from Figen Murray OBE, whose campaign, launched following the death of her son, Martyn, in the Manchester Arena terror attack in May 2017, contributed to the introduction of Martyn’s Law. The legislation is designed to improve security and preparedness at qualifying public premises and events.
With Martyn’s Law expected to come into full force in spring 2027, Figen shared the story behind her campaign, the progress of the legislation and its implications for the security industry. Her appearance finished with a Q&A session hosted by Rob Smith, former BBC South East Today presenter.
Speaking about her campaign, Figen said: “I began the campaign for Martyn’s Law not knowing where the journey would take me or the industry. I started by asking why basic measures weren’t in place, which has now grown into a wider conversation on how the public can be better protected and the role security plays in achieving that.
“It has shown me that professional standards, a passion for the industry and a strong sense of responsibility are important and it’s been particularly meaningful to collaborate with an organisation that represents those qualities and takes its role in keeping people and property safe very seriously.”
The new accreditation marked another significant step for MS Webb. NSI NACOSS Gold recognises independently assessed standards in electronic security systems and combined with its BSIA Corporate Membership, the achievements demonstrate the business’s focus on maintaining recognised professional standards across services.
David Ward, CEO at MS Webb, said of the new achievements: “Our clients put a lot of trust in us to keep their spaces safe and crime-free, and this isn’t something we take lightly. At MS Webb, we feel strongly about demonstrating our credibility, and it’s important that we constantly improve and hold ourselves to high standards, so our latest achievements mean a lot to us and demonstrate exactly that.”
Founded almost three decades ago by Malcolm Webb and now run by his sons Joe and Greg, MS Webb has undergone rapid growth in recent years. The business has expanded from a 124 sq ft office with two employees in 2021 to its current team of 41, with the new 5,000 sq ft headquarters providing much-needed space and facilities, especially with additional job opportunities in the pipeline.
Designed to support both day-to-day operations and employee wellbeing, the headquarters includes a large boardroom, additional meeting rooms, staff breakout areas and flexible collaboration zones. Fitness facilities, outdoor areas and abundant natural light contribute to an environment designed to support the growing team.
“Our father started MS Webb from his garage, and my brother and I have grown up alongside the business, so we feel passionately about continuing its success and helping it reach its potential.
“The next 12 to 24 months feel particularly exciting for MS Webb, as we look to recruit even more talented individuals by Christmas, especially dog security handlers, as demand for this service continues to grow. We anticipate growing the team by an extra nine people over the coming months and we are keen to employ individuals who have a focus on providing a quality service, helping us maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves and that clients have come to expect of us,” added Greg Webb, Co-Owner and Business Director at MS Webb.
